What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a collaborative event where writers and artists work together to create a story for the event theme and an artwork inspired by that story.
Writers start by drafting a story idea and submitting a short blurb about their concept.
Artists then choose the stories they find inspiring.
The team will match every artist to one of their selected stories. Each Pair then develops their pieces together and posts them on the final reveal date.
What is a Reverse Bang?
A Reverse Bang is identical in structure except the positions of artist and writer are swapped.
Artists submit a sketch first, and writers claim the artwork they’d like to build a story around.
What does the process look like?
This event can be broken into six phases.
Preparation (You are here)
This is where we do interest checks, and fill empty moderation roles, and prepare the discord server accordingly.
This part is mostly behind the scenes. But is an excellent opportunity to get your preferences heard!Sign-Ups
Participants fill out a simple form to join as a writer, artist, or pinch-hitter.
You will be asked for certain mandatory information like your discord handle, the name you wish to use, and confirming that you are of age to participate.
There will be a few questions, such as wether you would like a beta, that are optional and can be changed later. You will be contacted to inform you of the results. There is no minimum skill requirement, however there is limited space so your spot is not guaranteed.Blurb or Art Submissions
For a Big Bang: Writers turn in short summaries of their story idea. (100~ words)
For a Reverse Bang: Artists turn in a sketch. It can be extremely rough.
This is not the stage for polish. These are compiled into a claims gallery.Claims Day
Participants browse the gallery and submit their top choices.
We will likely ask you to chose five.
This part of the process is anonymous and the submissions will not be tagged by creator in the gallery. You will be given the opportunity at this stage to indicate privately any creators you don’t wish to be paired with.
You do not need to justify your list. We trust our participants to use this option respectfully.
Mods match teams, then announce the pairings.Creation Period
This is where the collaboration really begins!
Each team will get a private room to bounce ideas, share references, spam emojis, whatever floats your boat!Writers draft their fics and Artists create their illustrations for the same story. Teams support each other and share ideas, while working. There will be periodic check-ins to make sure everyone is on track.
These check-ins help identify if anyone needs support and make sure noone is abandoned without a team.
Posting & Reveals
On the final posting date, all teams share their completed works.
Teams should coordinate to post at similar times so that their works can be enjoyed together.
Further details about posting and collections will be released closer to the date.

This is an 18+ Event
Even though this is not an exclusively NSFW event we still require that all participants be aged 18 or older on the day that signups close.
Respectful Conduct
The golden rule is to treat eachother well.
More specifically, this event will not allow:
- Bullying
- Doxing.
- Hate speech, slurs, and similar.
- Anything other forms of targeted harassment
This behaviour will lead to corrective action.
Repeat or severe offenders may be banned from current and future events.
Positivity
This event is about celebrating what we like about 🌈🦌 and Hazbin Hotel.
This event is not about what upsets us about the properties.
This means that there will be no:
- Ship bashing.
- Discussion of fandom drama.
- Negative talk about any of the creators, voice actors, artists, or studio staff.
- Negative talk about fandom creators.
While we recognise that discourse is a valid and expected part of participating in fandom, this is not the space for it.
You may discuss any and all of these things at your leisure in other, more appropriate, venues.
Let's focus on sharing and spreading what sparks joy.Plagiarism policy
This is an event centered around collaboration and creators. It should stand to reason that you are expected to create your own contributions.
Use of AI for drafting outlines, bases, prose, or any other major part of your work is prohibited.
Use of spell checkers is allowed provided the creator does not heavily rely on them to restructure their sentences and wordflow.Tracing, using, or paraphrasing large sections of someone else's work for your piece is prohibited.Self Plaigarism
Your contribution must be a fully new piece.
You may not write new installments for a previously existing story or series.
You may not revise or remaster an old piece for this event.
Use the proper Channels
Do your best to follow the guidelines of what discord channels are appropriate for your conversation.
Primarily Do not post NSFW content in the SFW areaObey mods if they ask you to move your post.Privacy
Do not share screenshots or information about other participants outside of the server without explicit, provable consent for every instance from every person involved.

Submission Guidelines TBD
Detailed information will be released after the Interest Check is complete

Why "Mini" Bang?
This is a great question. In this case the "mini" refers to two aspects of our event: The number of contributors and the minimum requirements for that contribution.
A Bang generally involves collaboration of many creators to make fully rendered works and fleshed out stories.
While it is possible that with enough interest the scope may change, the current goal is to have a small to moderate group of creators.
Our goal is to be an event for all 🌈🦌fans. In order to be accessible to all skill levels and schedules we are aiming for a less strenuous set of requirements. Our Mini Bang wants to focus more on the enjoyment of the pairing in a low pressure environment that leaves plenty of room to enjoy the creation process.Again, at this stage it is possible for the interest check to cause changes. Be sure to check back once the results are posted! What kinds of mods are you looking for?
We want to have at least one mod for every ten participants. Currently we expect to need a total team of 2-4.
All mods will be responsible for managing conflicts and potentially handing out warnings, time-outs, and bans.In addition to that we need support in the following areas:Discord
The project needs someone skilled in operating discord's functions. This mod will be largely responsible for server maintenance and the creation of necessary rooms, polls, threads, and more.
Writing and/or Art mod(s)
These mods will be responsible for being the first contact of their respective creator group.
They will also be responsible for monitoring the check-ins and server channels for their contributors.
These mods will ensure all content meets the rules and requirements of the event.
Do you have office hours?
Okaaay. So technically nobody asked this, but it's good information regardless.
There are soft office hours for social media communications:
From Noon - 1:00pm and 7:00pm - 8:00pm EST.
Outside of those times availability will be variable.
Note: these hours account for social media communications only.
Communication through the event discord will have a significantly broader range of hours.
